Instructions for translators

Translating Zipline

You can help translate Zipline at wl.diced.sh. Sign in with GitHub, choose your language and a component, and start translating.

Guidelines

  • Write naturally in your language, and check the glossary for terminology used elsewhere.
  • Keep Zipline, other brand names, and protocol names unchanged.
  • Keep placeholders like {{count}} and {{filename}} intact. You can move them wherever they fit in the sentence.
  • Keep formatting tags like <anchor>…</anchor> and <br/> intact, translating the text inside paired tags.
  • Fill in each plural form Weblate shows for your language.
  • If you’re unsure about a string, leave a suggestion or comment. Leave untranslated strings untouched rather than saving an empty value; missing translations fall back to English.
  • For Portuguese (pt), use Brazilian Portuguese conventions.

Reviews

Translations are reviewed before being included in Zipline. If you want to change an already-approved translation, leave a suggestion.

Approved changes are sent to GitHub automatically and go through automated checks and maintainer review before merging.

English strings are maintained in the source repository. If something is incorrect or unclear, leave a comment in Weblate or open an issue.

New languages

I approve new languages before they’re added. If you’d like to translate Zipline into another language, open an issue on GitHub or reach out on Discord.

Translation process
  • Translations can be made directly.
  • Translation suggestions can be made.
  • Translations are reviewed by dedicated reviewers.
  • Any authenticated user can contribute.
  • The translation uses monolingual files.
  • The translation base language can not be edited.
  • Translations marked as needing editing are not written to the translation file.

If using a compositor such as <anchor>Hyprland</anchor>, this option will set the <code>XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=sway</code> to workaround Flameshot's errors on Wayland. This is not needed on Xorg.
